KKH Phase-II (Havelian-Thakot) project, is one of the early harvest project of CPEC in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). With total length of 120 KM, it is divided into two phases including construction of 40 KM 4 lane motorway from Havelian to Mansehra and 80 KM Class-II Highway from Mansehra to Thakot. The commercial contract was signed on December 22, 2015 between National Highway Authority and China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), a subsidy of China Communications Construction Company Ltd. With estimated cost of $1,315 million, it was commenced on September 1, 2016 and expected to be completed in 42 months. However, on November 18, 2019, Havelian – Mansehra Section inaugurated following the Mansehra – Thakot inauguration in July 2020.
The project includes 105 bridges among which 60 are large bridges, 42 are medium bridges and 3 are small bridges. There are 6 tunnels, among which 2 are in expressway, 4 are in Class-II highway. The project has created total 5500 jobs and contributed in the socio-economic development of the region.
