China and Pakistan signed a MoU on financing and provision of Chinese government concessional loan
for execution of Gwadar Eastbay Expressway. The ECNEC approved project in January 2015. The
groundbreaking of 19 KM long expressway held in November 2017. The project aims to provide primary
connectivity of the Port and its free zone with the network of national highways for smooth
transportation of logistics and transit goods. The expressway is expected to be operational by April
2022.
