The groundbreaking of the Karot Hydropower Project held during the visit of Chinese President Xi
Jinping in April 2015. The construction work began in December 2016. Over 4000 jobs have been
created during the construction phase. Project achieved the critical milestone of River Closure in
September 2018. With 90% work done, the project is expected to be completed in April 2022.
