Groundbreaking of the Sahiwal Coal Power Plant, one of the early harvest project and Pakistan’s first supercritical power plant, held in 2014 while construction started in 2015. With an estimated cost of $ 1912.2 million, the power plant completed and inaugurated 6 months ahead of its scheduled date i.e. December 2017. It has two units of 660 MWs, adding 1,320 megawatts (MWs) of electricity into the national grid. The plant helped to achieve zero-carbon emission and has provided employment to over 3000 locals during the construction phase.
